Case History No 25-27
THREE CASES OF SINUSITIS
(This medical condition has already been discussed in the CASE HISTORY 3 – BRIND.)
Discussion
These are three cases of longstanding sinusitis:
- The first had been suffering for more than seventeen years. She was cured by the deep breathing technique
- The other two were cured after they were taught hatha yoga.
“…..I had been suffering from chronic sinusitis for more than 17 years. I had followed treatment at the ENT hospital and had twice undergone surgery, sinus lavage and cautery, to no avail. I had to keep taking lots of medication without any significant results. I still had recurrent attacks on and off.
“During meditation, Yoginiji makes us do deep yogic breathing. I would practice it daily. Shortly after, I had an attack of sinusitis. In spite of my problem I came for meditation….As usual I was doing deep breathing while meditating. Suddenly, all pain left me. My nasal passages cleared completely. I am happy to say, I never again had to follow any treatment for sinusitis! I was cured for ever!”

“I was sensitive to this daily fluctuation in temperature. I got sinus problems. I used to have severe headache, blocked or running nose and other symptoms. I was on constant medication with little result. When I was taught hatha yoga my condition improved. Today I no longer have any sinus problem.”

“One of my cousins aged 12, had recurrent sinusitis. His nose was always blocked and he got the bad habit of breathing through the mouth. Consequently, he was always ailing and underweight. Visits to pediatricians and ENT doctors did not help. I took him to the ashram. He was taught simple breathing exercises and some simple yoga postures suitable for his young age. In no time he was transformed. His sinus problem was completely cured. He recovered his appetite and put on weight. Within six months he became sturdier than his two elder brothers”.

EFFECT OF YOGA AND MEDITATION
In all the three cases, the increase flow of prana from the practice of yoga and meditation did their curative work. Continued yoga and meditation would enhance the beneficial effects and maintain the cure for years.
