Case History No 24
BACKACHE
Past History: This is a typical case of a middle aged lady who suffered from recurrent backache whenever she did some extra exertion.
Backache
Backache usually refers to pain felt in the lower back. One may also have back stiffness, decreased movement of the lower back, and difficulty standing straight. Acute back pain lasts for a few days to a few weeks.
Low back pain can vary widely. The pain may be mild, or it can be so severe that you are unable to move. Acute low back pain is most often caused by a sudden injury to the muscles and ligaments supporting the back. The pain may be caused by muscle spasms or a strain or tear in the muscles and ligaments.
Treatment
Many people benefit from physical therapy. Stretching and strengthening exercises are important in the long run.
Discussion
During meditation she got spontaneous yoga postures which gradually cured her condition. Meditation also increased the inflow of prana. It helped alleviate her pain and eventually she was relieved of her longstanding problem.
“In the past I used to suffer from backache whenever I exerted myself physically….I started having spontaneously several yogic postures during meditation.
“ Gradually my pain disappeared. Although I have never practiced yoga before, I could perform the postures easily while in trance. I am now running 47 years and I do feel a lot better than before.”
